Cellulite and Liposuction

Liposuction, also named as suction assisted lipectomy, liposculpture, and fat suction. Liposuction is a remedy by which fat cells are surgically removed. Cellulite and liposuction go hand in hand, however, performed alone, this method of extracting fat by vacuuming it from under the skin is not entirely effective for cellulite.

Liposuction is chiefly used for body contouring purposes that involves extracting deep fat by vacuuming it from beneath the skin. This layer of fat is not where cellulite originates and therefore, liposuction is not the right treatment for cellulite. Liposuction may occassionally worsen the appearance of cellulite as it involves sucking large amount of reserve fat right under the skin, causing the dimpling and "orange-peel" appearance on skin.

Liposuction helps improve the contours of the body by removing localized accumulations of fat. It is not a treatment of obesity. A suction tube is injected through a tiny incision placed in an inconspicuous location on the skin. With a high pressure vacuum, fat cells are extracted through this tube. The consequence is a resculpting of bulging areas into more attractive contours.

There are clinical procedures which can be mixed with liposuction to help with the removal of cellulite. Along with the removal of cellulite and liposuction, a new technique can help eliminate your problem areas. Anon-surgical and non-invasive procedure that involves the use of a motorized device with two adjustable rollers and controlled suction, which creates a symmetrical skin-fold.

The skin softly folds and unfolds under the persistent action of the rollers. Endermologie is usually used along with liposuction for cellulite reduction purposes. The most proned areas treated by liposuction in men are the "love handles", breasts, abdomen and neckline. In women, they involve : thighs, hips, buttocks, stomach, knees, lower leg, cheeks, and double chins.

Liposuction surgery is necessarily a true spot fat reducer which permanently removes fat from certain areas of the body such as the abdomen or the hips. Once puberty is reached, no new fat cells grow. The fat cells either swell or shrink in size depending upon weight gain or loss. When fat cells are removed from a treated area, they do not regain. General anesthesia is essential as liposuction is a long and expensive procedure.
