Choosing a Foundation

Foundation is necessary for flawless-looking skin. Preferring the right foundation formula means not only addressing your skin type, but also thinking about what your foundation requires are. Stick foundations are convenient and simple to apply only on the necessary spots; tinted moisturizers are good for hot weather or when a heavier formulation isn’t required; for a more “covered up” look, a heavier liquid is usually best. The right shade should look untraceable on your skin. Usually yellow-based foundations will seem natural on all skin tones while very pale skin tones will look immense in a cooler shade.

Prefer a foundation that’s nearly your skin tone. For an attractive and natural result, you should pick your foundation according to your natural skin tone. The color shouldn’t be too dark, so that it doesn’t seem apparent next to the shade of your neck. If you have dry skin, utilize a moisturizer prior to applying foundation. Then, begin by dotting the foundation on areas where you would like to cover any deficiency. You may also covet to dab a bit of foundation onto your eyelids to help place your eye shadow.

Choosing a Foundation - Steps to Select the Perfect Shade

  • Judge your skin type. Before you choose the right shade, you need to discover the right formulation for your skin.
  • Ensure you are in natural daylight when trying out foundation shades, so you can precisely see how your skin will look once you leave the shop.
  • Prefer a few colors that look nearly your natural skin tone. Go for the yellow-based foundations, which seem mainly natural on all skin tones. However, if you’re very fair, seek a pink, color shade.
  • Do not effort the foundation on your hand or on your wrist- they are a different shade to your face.

Know Your Skin Type

It is really very important for you to be able to identify your skin type. This is to enable you to look after your skin correctly. Also the selection of your cosmetics is, to a considerable extent, influenced by your skin type. Although no two skins are exactly similar most have characteristics which enable them to be grouped into one of the following types:

Normal Skin : This skin is smooth and velvety to touch and does not look puffy or shiny. The skin has a rosy color because the circulation of blood is good and the skin is well moisturised. The pores are fine and barely visible. This type of skin is something of a rarity. If you own this type of skin, you have a real fortune to exploit. However, though this type of skin is not really problematic, it still needs sensible care and gentle treatment. Choose your skin care products carefully and always look for mild, well balanced cosmetics.

Dry Skin : This skin is fine, delicate and dry with a tendency to scaling on the cheeks. Under-neath, the skin lacks supplements and therefore feels taut after washing. The pores are not visible as there is an insufficient amount of secretion from the sebaceous glands. Dry skin tends to age prematurely and is wrinkle-prone unless nurtured. Constant pretection is very important and the products used must be gentle, rich and soothing. Always use a moisturizer during the day and a good cream at night.

Oily Skin : This skin is coarse, thick and shiny. The sebaceous glands being over-active, the pores are clearly visible. Oily Skin is prone to comedones and pimples and needs to be clean. Only those cosmetics which have been formulated especially for oily skins should be used, otherwise there will be problems.

Combination Skin : Most of us have a combination skin. The middle of the face is shiny with dilated ostia and a coarse texture. The rest of the face is either normal or dry. Sometimes, the difference between the two areas is great; if such is the case with your skin, then you would have to treat each part of the face accordingly - the dry areas as for dry skin and the central panel as for oily skin.
