The under-eye area has a minimum of oil-glands. It is probably the most delicate part of your face. Always remove eye makeup with the greatest possible care, being carefull not to stretch or tug the skin around the eyes. Use an eye makeup remover. Soak a small swab of cotton wool into your remover. Remove makeup with gentle and light strokes.

Remedies for Baldness

Baldness is an embarrassing problem and there is no treatment for several types of alopecias. So a huge range of commercial remedies claiming to increase hair growth have appear in the market. Whether anything will help, depends largely on the cause of the Baldness. There are no magic cures and a good many of the products available are absolutely useless. Many of the preparations sold for the treatment of hair loss are advertised with accompanying photographs showing before and after treatment pictures. These looks very convincing, but if an individual with alopecia areata uses a hair restorer and improves, the restorer gets the credit when in fact the hair growth might well have begun spontaneously. Similarly, hair which is lost after prolonged illness will regrow without the help of any medicines.

Can curly hair be straightened ?

Yes, hair can be straightened just as it can be curled. This is done either by using chemicals or heat. The hair straightening is brought about any breakage of the bonds and formation of new ones and this too makes the hair weak. Of the chemical methods, one technigue uses a strong alkali and the other involves the use of a reducing agent. The former tends to have a stronger effect.

Eyeshadow Application Tips

Eyeshadow comes in various forms : pressed powders, loose powder, creams, sticks and as liquids. Pressed powders are the easiest to apply. Some Eyeshadow application tips are as follows:

1. Using a fine, blunt-ended brush, gently apply the base color to the entire lid from the inside to the outside corner and from the base of the lashes to the eyelid crease.

2. if the eyes need extra definition, a deeper shade is blended into the crease line. This gives depth to the yes.

3. The brow bone is highlighted with a light shade. Thise give the eyes a wide, open look. The color is applied to the most prominant area and blended up towards the brow and down to the where the contour curves down, towards the eyelid creases.

4. Before using them on the lids, always test the colors on the back of the hand to see the intensity. You can use even 3-4 colorr, prrovided they are blended well. Remember, pale tones emphasize, while deep sooty shades define.

Use of a Blusher

After facial makeup, the next thing that comes on the face is the blusher. This is a highlighting colour, that is applied on the high edge of the check bones and blended to create a natural-looking blush on the cheeks. The predominant from today is the powder blusher - this is the successor to the original rouge. Cream blushers are somebut newer than powder blushers. Blushers also come in two color harmonies : the gold harmony whit coral, orange and reddish brown tones and the bluish harmony with rose-beige colors. Remember that here too you must select both the right form and the right color.

How to choose your moisturiser

Choosing the moisturiser to suit your skin type is very very important. The proportion of oil veries according to the type of skin for which the product is formulated. The label on the product generally states this - so do read the instructions carefully. Generally speaking, products meant for well balanced normal skin are water based, containing a little oil those designed for dry skins makeup for the lack of oil on the skin, by adding oil to the skin. Humectants like glycerine and lactic acid, are also added to retain moisture. Sensitive skins also need moisturisers having a high oil content.

Moisturisers are, generally, not to be used on oily skin, becauses they can cause spots. But today safe synthetic chemicals are available - these oil-free moisturisers do not contain any mineral oil, vegetable oils or animal fat, but contain either modified oils or other synthetic ingredients. SO now you can enjoy the luxury of using such products, even if you have an oily skin. Use them on patches of dryness caused by excessive use of anti-pimples remedies, yet don’t use them too often or too liberally.

Know Your Skin Type

It is really very important for you to be able to identify your skin type. This is to enable you to look after your skin correctly. Also the selection of your cosmetics is, to a considerable extent, influenced by your skin type. Although no two skins are exactly similar most have characteristics which enable them to be grouped into one of the following types:

Normal Skin : This skin is smooth and velvety to touch and does not look puffy or shiny. The skin has a rosy color because the circulation of blood is good and the skin is well moisturised. The pores are fine and barely visible. This type of skin is something of a rarity. If you own this type of skin, you have a real fortune to exploit. However, though this type of skin is not really problematic, it still needs sensible care and gentle treatment. Choose your skin care products carefully and always look for mild, well balanced cosmetics.

Dry Skin : This skin is fine, delicate and dry with a tendency to scaling on the cheeks. Under-neath, the skin lacks supplements and therefore feels taut after washing. The pores are not visible as there is an insufficient amount of secretion from the sebaceous glands. Dry skin tends to age prematurely and is wrinkle-prone unless nurtured. Constant pretection is very important and the products used must be gentle, rich and soothing. Always use a moisturizer during the day and a good cream at night.

Oily Skin : This skin is coarse, thick and shiny. The sebaceous glands being over-active, the pores are clearly visible. Oily Skin is prone to comedones and pimples and needs to be clean. Only those cosmetics which have been formulated especially for oily skins should be used, otherwise there will be problems.

Combination Skin : Most of us have a combination skin. The middle of the face is shiny with dilated ostia and a coarse texture. The rest of the face is either normal or dry. Sometimes, the difference between the two areas is great; if such is the case with your skin, then you would have to treat each part of the face accordingly - the dry areas as for dry skin and the central panel as for oily skin.
