One of the first female stars of hip-hop is Queen Latifah. Queen Latifah is an American singer, actress and rapper. Queen Latifah was born Dana Owens in Newark, NJ, on March 18, 1970. James was ascenting a career as a producer and made a demo record of Queen Latifah's rap "Princess of the Posse." He gave the demo to Fred Braithwaite--Fab 5 Freddy, host of Yo! MTV Raps, who played it for Dante Ross, who performed for Tommy Boy Music at the time. Tommy Boy signed Latifah and in 1988, released her first single, "Wrath of My Madness." In 1993 Queen Latifah co-founded her own record label, Flavor Unit Records, a part of her media company Flavor Unit Entertainment. She has naturally long shiny hair which she styles in several designs. She has wore many looks- funky, sexy, soft and curly.

At the L.A premiere for "Hairspray" latifah looked great in her blonde style. She maintained her length below shoulder level and added long layers around her ends to attain a weightless look. She looked perfect in her hairstyle in 2007 American Music Awards. Queen carried her classical style having half up and half down way. She added layers over her style to enhance her curls and add volume. Her top was styled to add height and provide unique look at top. Queen added plenty of layers and curls to her shoulder level hair. She made few braids out of her hair and styled them on top as a headband. A loads of volume was created at the back with double toned locks. Queen chipped her hair to shoulder level and added slightest layering at the ends. Little to no layers were cut throughout to achieve.
